Arnel Pineda Arnel Pineda, an Filipino musician/singer, rose to fame in the Philippines in the 1890s. He also became the new lead singer for the American rock group Journey in 2007. His family was left with due to the demise of his mother. His father, who was six months behind on his rent and in a position to support the needs of his family decided to approach his relatives to adopt Arnel. Arnel is the youngest of three siblings, Roderick Pineda and Joselito Pineda. Arnel realized the severity of his circumstances and decided to quit school in order to relieve his father's burden. Arnel lived for nearly two years on the streets, sleeping where he could, whether in parks in the public or on a narrow bench outside a friend's crowded house. He took glass bottles and newspapers and sold them to recyclers. Arnel also performed odd jobs, such as cleaning scrap metal and docking ship. Cherry Pineda is Arnel's wife. In 2001, the couple was married. The couple is blessed with two children: a daughter, Thea Chenelle Pineda and a son, Cherub. Arnel is also blessed with Matthew and Angelo, two of his older sons.
