Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on the 4th of June, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.),
American actress and director who is known for her sexiness and edginess as
well as for her charitable work. The role she played in Girl, Interrupted
(1999) was one of the roles she received for the Academy Award. Jolie, the
daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent most of her growing up in New York. She
moved to Los Angeles when she was 11 years old. After having attended the Lee
Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute two years later, she was attended Beverly
Hills High School. Later, she studied acting at New York University. Alongside
acting in theatre productions, she played the role of a model as well as
appearing in music videos.Jolie's first big film role was in Hackers (1995) in
the filming process, she got married to her first husband, British actor Jonny
Lee Miller (married 1996; divorced 1999). The film failed to find an audience,
and neither did another series of films. Jolie was the segregationist wife of
Alabama's governor. She received much attention in 1997. Jolie later won a
Golden Globe Award. Jolie played the supermodel struggling with addiction to
drugs in the HBO movie Gia in 1999. This role earned her numerous accolades, including
the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. After her Oscar-winning
performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie appeared in Pushing Tin, a comedy
featuring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Billy Bob Thornton. Then, in
2003, she divorced. She played the role of the girlfriend of a carjacker
(Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) and later changed her accent to
an accent that resembled a British accent and was able to master street
fighting and kickboxing to play the main roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
(2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003). She played the
role of Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander in 2004 and also starred
with Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow the thriller
about sci-fi set in 1930s New York City. Both films were box-office
disappointments however, Jolie made a splash in Mr. & Mrs. Smith
(2005), in which she played an assassin disguised as a typical housewife. While
working on the film, she met Brad Pitt, who became her partner.
